CIVIQ

LinkNYC SmartScape

Ideaz teamed up with CIVIQ to launch their initial LinkNYC™ SmartScape units that now have been installed in thousands of locations in New York City and the five boroughs. The CIVIQ units are installed inold phone booth locations and deliver free gigabit wifi, free public phone calls, device charging, a tablet for access to city services, maps, directions, advertising and 911 access for New Yorkers.

Ideaz helped Comark launch the initial batch of SmartScape units by completing a comprehensive design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) exercise resulting in millions of dollars in manufacturing cost savings, allowing a fast ramp up of manufacturing and getting units installed across New York city.

Objectives

CIVIQ was working feverishly to keep up with the demand for their LinkNYC products but they were not meeting their cost targets and were anxious to reduce costs as soon as possible. Ideaz conducted a thorough design for manufacturing (DFMA) exercise to bring costs down and profits up.

Result

When the Ideaz workstations had cooled off, our team optimized and reduced the number of parts. We utilized new manufacturing processes, focused on ease of manufacturing, installation, service, and durability. This DFMA process netted CIVIQ major savings on tooling, machined parts, and complex installation.
